Travel Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit

Additional Details:

Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.

References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

PCU high acuity - 12 D/N or Nights

2 years of Oncology experience preferred but not required.

Unit Information: Medical Oncology with progressive care beds/pediatric patients. High acuity of PCU and small amount of med surg.

Schedule: No set schedule, no set weekends, no block schedule. Facility determines the complete schedule, with the possibility of working every weekend. Must be flexible. 14-week contract required if taking 7 days off.

Ratio: 1:4-5 Med Surg Telemetry; 1:3 PCU

Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.

Skills Required: • Interpretation of dysrhythmias • Use of rapid response teams • Feeding tube care and management • Accessing Ports • Blood Product Administration • Central line care/management • Peripheral Line Care/Management • PICC line management • Starting IVs • Heparin Protocols • Manage Cardia drips- no titration • PCA • Titrate Cardiac drips • Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac • External CPAP/BIPAP • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) • Interpretation of ABGs • Nasal Cannula • Tracheostomy Management

Skills Preferred: • Management of dysrhythmias • IV insulin protocols • Titration of Insulin drips • Phlebotomy • Chemotherapy Administration • Monitoring Chemotherapy • Wound Care/Wound Vac • Arterial line management • Surgical drains • Non-invasive airway management

Orientation and Training: First week: Monday to Friday dayshift orientation. Second week: 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor. Note: Staffing ratios aim for 1:4-5 but may vary based on unit needs. Weekend shifts are variable.

RTO required with submission, must be built into contract.

Locals are accepted at the same rate.
