Requirements
Experience
24 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 24 months of Intensive Care Unit experience with 12 months within the past 3 years.
6 months of Trauma Level 1 facility is required from the last 3 years
Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 1 reference from within the past 3 years in order to be considered for this role

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must have strong general Medical & Surgical ICU experience. Must be able and willing to work the M/S Tele patients as well. This way as patients are either upgraded or downgraded the travelers are still able to work and get their hours. ICU person should be comfortable in tele also and have the expectation that at Westgate, you will be likely to have 50% in a non-ICU environment.
  • Must be proficient with vasoactive drips.
  • RNs are required to interpret EKGs.

Required Credentials:

  • Basic Dysrhythmia Exam Required PRIOR to sending the contract, 2 attempts.
  • All RNs will be expected to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion & central line dressing changes, with the exception of NyICU & ED.
  • Resume: Each employment history entry must include all the following: detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, teaching facility.
  • References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Unit and facility details: Ratios: 1 to 2 if ICU patients; 1 to 3 if MedSurg patients. The acuity of the patients on this unit is less than the acuity of the ICU patients at SJHMC. Typically staffed with 2 nurses for 4+ patients. Will flex to tele, ratio 1:4 if no ICU patients.

Special Requests: Travel Teams must have their own vehicles.

Shift & Scheduling: 4 total weekend shifts per 4 weeks, holidays based on unit coverage.

Floating Requirements: Float to MedSurg or possibly to MICU @ SJHMC. They also can float downtown to their ICU, so should be comfortable there also.
