Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
24 months of Intensive Care Unit experience is required with some in the last 24 months.
BSN completion preferred
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

Additional Details:

References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Manager may or may not interview. Clinician must be okay with this. If Clinician has questions, please email the AM.

Transplant ICU

Shift: Day/Night 19:00-07:30; 0700-1930

On Call/Weekend Requirement: no on call, every other weekend

Float Requirement: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity

Requirements: 2 years of experience: Interpretation and Management of dysrhythmias, Multi-system organ failure, IV insulin protocols, GI surgery, Chronic/Acute Renal failure and IV therapy, CVA/Acute Stroke management, External ventricular drains (EVD), Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, Post Neurosurgery management, Spinal cord injury, Traumatic Brain injury, Respiratory/Thoracic care, Infection Prevention, Isolation Precautions/ Use of PPE, Phlebotomy, Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac

Charge experience preferred

Teaching Hospital Experience: Preferred

Community Hospital Experience: Preferred

Weekend Coverage: Every Other

Orientation Hours: 36

Patient Age Groups: Adults, Geriatrics

Patient Diagnoses: Post-transplant (liver, kidney/pancreas, small intestine, islet cell, multivisceral), ESLD, ESRD, thoracic/abdominal/ENT/Flaps/General surgery, sepsis, multisystem organ failure, pre-transplant hepatology patients, overflow from neurosurgery (craniotomy, CVA, etc.), overflow from MICU.

RTO: Inpatient:

RTO during a contract will not be approved for greater than 8 days and this must be scheduled so that the traveler can still work his/her full 36 hours/week.

RTO in between the ending of one contract and the beginning of another will not be approved for greater than 7 days.

Return Staff Policy If a nurse has held previous employment with Medstar, must be gone for a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.
