Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience is required.
BSN completion preferred
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Maryland license or compact license
Certifications

Additional Details:

References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Manager may or may not interview. Clinician must be okay with this. If Clinician has questions, please email the AM.

Accepts 1st time travelers

Shift & Scheduling:

Start Date: 9/15, 9/23

Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend

6 weekend shifts in 6 weeks per contract

Special Requests:

No RTO the first two weeks of an assignment.

Floating Requirements:

Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.

Required Skills/Experience:

Skills Required: Telemetry, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit:

Patient Diagnosis: Diabetes, congestive heart failure, infection, sepsis, COPD, general surgery (kidney stones, appendectomy, minor amputations), sickle cell crisis, GI bleed, diverticulitis, general medicine/observation

Special Procedures/Unit Details: Most surgical cases are placed on our unit. Large orthopedic program (total joints), colorectal surgeries, vascular procedures, bariatric surgery. Although the unit accommodates pediatric patients on that unit, travelers are not expected to hold PALS certification or care for pediatric patients. The Telemetry unit is adult only.

Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Infants, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics

Equipment Used on Unit:

Special Equipment: Patient lifts (ceiling and portable), CADD pump, chest tubes, telemetry monitoring, capnography

Required Credentials:

Address must match DL when determining local status

Previous Employment Requirements:

Return Staff Policy If a nurse has held previous employment with Medstar, must be gone for a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.
