Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Travel experience is required from any number of months.
Must have at least 24 months of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit experience within the past 3 years.
Experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
License
Candidates must have a Wisconsin license or compact license
Certifications
BLS (Required)
NRP (Required)
PALS (Preferred)
Vaccinations
Flu vaccination required. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must have at least 2 years of total NICU III/IV experience, with at least 1 full year of Level IV NICU. (You may combine Level III and Level IV experience to reach the 2-year total, but a minimum of 1 year must be in a Level IV NICU.)
  • Experience with post-op patients, g-tubes, trach/vents management, various modes of invasive/noninvasive ventilation.
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience.
  • Patient Ratio Experience: 1:1-3
  • Skills: IV therapy, UAC (Umbilical Artery Catheter), UVC (Umbilical Vein Catheter), Medications/Emergency Medications, Anti-Seizure Medications, Antibiotics/Antivirals, Blood glucose monitoring, Hyperbilirubinemia, Phototherapy, Breastfeeding Support/Handling of Breast Milk, Feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), Patient/family teaching, Phlebotomy, Dysrhythmia Interpretation/Management, Invasive Hemodynamic monitoring, Telemetry -on the unit monitoring, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Oxygen Delivery Systems, Suctioning (ETT, NT), Tracheostomy care/management, Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), Isolation Precautions, Neonatal Sepsis, Sepsis Work Up, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Seizure disorders, Neonates > 34 weeks, Neonates 29-34 weeks, NICU III, NICU IV

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Epic experience preferred within the last 12 months.
  • Skills: Administration of blood & blood products, Arterial line management, Central line blood draw, Central Line/Implanted Line Care, Starting and maintaining IVs, IV vasopressors, Neonatal Dosage Calculations, Steroids, Surfactants, Assist with lumbar puncture, Intracranial Pressure Monitoring, Therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket), Ventricular Peritoneal (VP) Shunts, Insulin administration, Colostomy/Ileostomy care, Gastroschisis/Omphalocele, Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), Placement/Management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes, Post Abdominal Surgery, Developmental Care, Thermoregulation, Post cardiac surgery, Post interventional cardiac catheterization, Pre-Cardiac Surgery, High Frequency Ventilation, Meconium Aspiration, Nitric Oxide (INo), Oscillators, Respiratory distress syndrome, Vapotherm, Neonates < 24-28 weeks
  • Teaching hospital experience.
  • Prefer at least one level IV NICU assignment completed.

Unit/Facility Details: Parking: Permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Monday through Friday, required to work 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period.
  • Will accept up to 26 weeks.

Floating Requirements: Required to float to all AFCH units including PICU. Less than 12 months of age.
