Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 24 months of Postpartum experience.
Experience with Epic is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

Shift Times: 0630/1830 and 1830-0630, variable shifts, must work Nights/Days throughout contract

Weekend rotation: every other; potentially less as I have many caregivers who prefer weekends

Holiday Expectations: holidays as needed

Our team allowed to approve up to 7 days off, as long as the traveler extends to accommodate a full 13-week commitment

Preferably a candidate who can float to at least one of the following: L&D, NICU, Peds, PICU, needs will vary

General Information:

  • L&D Beds: 10 L&D beds; 4 OB ED (Triage beds); 4 Antepartum rooms, 2 OR
  • Mother/Baby: 20 beds, we do have a nursery, but we encourage our parents to room in and provide couplet care (nurse would need postpartum and newborn nursery experience)
  • Antepartum: 1:3, Inactive Labor: 1:2, Active Labor: 1:1, Postpartum/Couplet care: generally, 1:3 couplets. If needed, we flex up and take on a NICU mom or max 1:4 couplets
  • NICU feeder/ grower groups: 1:3, Peds: up to 1:5

Patient Types:

  • We see all types of pregnant patients in our labor and delivery. We have the only Level 3 NICU in a 350-mile radius, so we accept patients with almost any kind of risk factor or complication. We care for high-risk all the way down to low-intervention laboring patients. Antepartum, OB triage/ED, postpartum, and infants
  • mostly postpartum patients. We can see various complications such as pre-eclampsia, HTN, moms needing magnesium sulfate infusions etc. We do occasionally care for simple post-surgical/gynecological patients ex: hysterectomy, ovarian cyst, etc.

Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Minimum Experience Requirement: 2 years L&D experience or 2 Years Postpartum/GYN experience

Must care for couplets and GYN surgical

Would love a candidate with Level 2 nursery baby experience – 24 hr testing, bilirubin babies, NAS scoring, late preterm, blood sugar babies

IV starts, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate administration, blood administration, Insulin gtts

If L&D trained:

  • circulate C-sections, C-section recovery care, cervical checks
  • (PREFER): ACLS, certification in inpatient obstetrics, electronic fetal monitoring, or inpatient antepartum
