Requirements

Experience

12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.

Travel experience is required from any number of months.

Must have at least 12 months of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit experience.

BSN completion preferred

Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.

References

Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

License

Candidates must have a District of Columbia license

Ventricular Assist Device Coordinator

Manager may or may not interview. Clinician must be okay with this. If Clinician has questions, please email the AM.

Previous Employment Requirements: Return Staff Policy If a nurse has held previous employment with Medstar, must be gone for a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.

Required Credentials: References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Preferred Credentials: VAD Certification within 1-1/2 Yrs

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit:

Types of Patients on Unit: Patient Age Groups: Adults

Patient Diagnoses: Stage D systolic heart failure with ventricular assist device

Unit/Facility Details: Looking for a VAD Engineer or VAD Nurse Coordinator proficient in management of the VAD, ideally able to take VAD call & sit procedures, required - VAD Patient Education in accordance with regulatory standards.

Special Requests: Block Schedules: Yes

No RTO the first two weeks of an assignment.

Shift & Scheduling: Monday through Friday.

There is weeknight and weekend call.

Weeknight call is 5pm - 8am

Weekend call Friday night 5pm through Monday 7am.

Call is remote unless medically necessary to come on site.
