Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
12 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience is required with some in the last 24 months.
Trauma Level 1 experience is preferred from any number of months
Experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 references from within the past 2 years in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a New York license

Teaching Hospital Experience - Preferred

Trauma Level II Experience - Preferred

Mixed acuity unit PCU, MS Tele and MS patients

Must have PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years.

Ratios adjusted by acuity

Skills: MS/Tele, Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Post MI, IV insulin protocols, Titration of Insulin drips, Feeding tube care and management, Continuous Bladder Irrigation, Renal failure, Accessing Ports, Blood Product Administration

Central line care/management, Phlebotomy, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Starting IVs, Heparin Protocols, Manage Cardiac drips- no titration, PCA, Thrombolytic Agents, Titrate Cardiac drips, CVA, Seizure disorders, Substance Withdrawal, Ortho trauma, Peripheral nerve block catheters

Total Joint Replacements, Traction, Mastectomy, Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, External CPAP/BIPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of ABGs, Nasal Cannula, Oxygen face masks, Non-invasive airway management, Tracheostomy Management, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac

TCAR Certification - Preferred

Weekend Requirement: Every other

Float: May be floated to the corresponding sister units. West 2, West 3, and Observation unit are all sister units

Patient Types: PCU and MS Tele, Surgical pre and post; ENT, general Surgery, Trauma surgery, Ortho surgery.

Overflow medical diagnosis patients.

Rare Pediatric patient

Travelers not assigned unless experienced.

Unit Orientation: 12 Hours

Pre-Approved Time Off: 1 Request

Patient Population: Adolescents, Infants, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics

Daily Census: 24

Return Staff Policy: 1 year
