Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 24 months of Oncology Unit experience.
Experience with Epic is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 1 charge/lead reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

Required Skills/Experience: Skills: IV Therapy/ Infusions: Administration of coagulation factors, Antifungals, Antivirals, Blood/Blood product administration, Care and management of ports, Central line blood draw, Central Line/Implanted Line Care, Infusion pump management, Intravenous. Medications: Antibiotic, Antiemetic, Corticosteroids. Oncologic Emergencies: Sepsis. Psychosocial Care: Advanced directives, Patient/Family education and support. Symptom management: Alteration in skin and mucous membranes, Altered mental status, Constipation/diarrhea, Dysphagia, Edema, Nausea/vomiting, Neuropathy. Professional Knowledge and Skills: Chest tube care and management, Colostomy care and management, Foley catheter insertion/management, Isolation Precautions, Neutropenic precautions, Telemetry Interpretation, Telemetry monitoring, Wound care. Pain Management: IV push narcotic agents, Medication tolerance/dependence, assessment, PCA pump management, Transdermal patches. Surgery: Post surgical care.

  • Oncology experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Previous Charge experience and Teaching Hospital experience.
  • Skills: Lysis Syndrome (ATLS), Anaphylaxis, Extravasation injury, Hemorrhage. Psychosocial Care: Hospice care, Withholding/withdrawing treatment. Care of Patient With: Bladder/Kidney Cancer, Brain cancer, Breast Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Ear/Nose/Throat Cancers, Kidney Cancer, Leukemia/Blood Dyscrasias, Liver Cancer, Lung cancer, Lymphoma/Non-Hodgkins lymphoma, Melanoma, Multiple Myeloma, Ovarian Cancer/Uterine Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, Prostate Cancer. Chemotherapy: Body fluid handling post Chemotherapy, Oral Administration of chemotherapy, Recognize/ communicate abnormal lab values. Professional Knowledge and Skills: Tracheostomy care/management. Work Settings: Inpatient oncology. Radiation therapy: Radiation safety precautions, Wound care. Biotherapy: Recognize/manage side effects.

Required Credentials: Roles requiring state licensure only: Floating roles must have MO license and is in the process of applying for KS license (+ vice-versa) or must have a compact licensure to apply.

Unit/Facility Details:

  • Charge RN assignments as needed per unit.
  • Parking Cost – Free

Special Requests:

  • If requesting 7 days of RTO, the expectation is that the missed time is made up.
  • No travel partners accepted.
  • RTO and scheduling requests required at submission.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Holiday shifts as needed per unit.
  • Weekend REQ: 8 weekend shifts in Saint Luke’s 6-week schedule period, combination of F/S/S.
