Requirements
Experience
18 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Travel experience is required from any number of months.
Must have at least 18 months of Operating Room experience.
Trauma Level 1 experience is required from any number of months
Experience with Cerner is required from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
Candidates must provide 1 charge/lead reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Illinois license

  • Bariatric Case Experience: Laparoscopic assisted cases.
  • General Surgery Case Experience: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy partial/total, Whipple.
  • Neurology Case Skills/Experience: Cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion.
  • Orthopedic Case Skills/Experience: Arthroscopy, Carpal Tunnel release, Closed reduction of fractures, Open reduction of fractures.
  • Plastic Surgery Case Skills/Experience: Free Flap - Microvascular.
  • Transplant Skills/Experience: Organ donation.
  • Urology Case Skills/Experience: Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy.
  • Trauma Case Skills/Experience: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, MVA (multiple injuries).
  • Emergency management Skills/Experience: Code response, Fire safety, Latex Allergy, Malignant Hyperthermia.
  • Equipment/Instrumentation/Supplies Experience: Electrosurgical units, Fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables.
  • Professional Knowledge and Skills: Administration of blood products, Infection control, Radiation Safety, Specimen Handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure, Urinary bladder catheterization.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Teaching Hospital Experience
  • Abdominal/ Vaginal hysterectomy, Anterior/Posterior Repair (Colporrhaphy), Bilateral tubal ligation, Dilation & Curettage, Laparoscopic assisted gynecological procedures, Therapeutic Abortion, Vulvectomy, Laser Safety, ALIF (Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion), Burns, Scrub General Surgery, Ortho/Spine, Total joint replacement, Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, Mazor Robot, Kidney, Tonsillectomy/adenoids.

Required Credentials:

  • BLS: RQI cards not accepted.
  • You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing.

Unit/Facility Details:

  • Parking Cost: Parking permit required, no cost. Will fill out form during orientation.
  • Proof of Identification: Drivers License/State ID
  • References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Weekend Requirement: One per month.
  • On-Call Requirement: 1/week though it's no usually that often anymore.

Floating Requirements: Floating is 100% required of all travelers - Candidates will float within hospital or to an affiliate hospital/s near by.
