Requirements
Experience
24 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 12 months of Neurologic Intensive Care Unit experience.
Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 charge/lead references from within the past 3 years in order to be considered for this role

Previous Employment Requirements: Return Travelers: If a traveler takes a break after an assignment and returns within 18 months, re- orientation is not required.

Required Skills/Experience: Client is looking for ICU experience with strong Neuro checklist. Stroke experience required. IV therapy- Arterial line management, Central line care/management, PICC line management, Starting and maintaining IVs. Respiratory/Thoracic- Assist with management of BiPAP, Assist with management of CPAP, Care of Ventilated Patient, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Suctioning (ETT, NT), Ventilator Management. Medications- Continuous IV sedation, Titrate Cardiac drips, Titrate Vasoactive drips. Neurological- CVA/Acute Stroke management, ICP monitoring. Professional Topics and Skills- Infection Prevention, Isolation Precautions/ Use of PPE. Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response- Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias. Heparin Drip Management.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Teaching Hospital Experience. IV therapy- Blood Product Administration. Respiratory/Thoracic- Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs). Medications- Procedural Sedation Administration/Monitoring. Neurological- External ventricular drain (EVD), Post Neurosurgery management, Spinal cord injury, Traumatic Brain injury. Professional Topics and Skills- Phlebotomy. Endocrine/Metabolic- IV insulin protocols. Work Settings- Neuro Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit.

Required Credentials: Photo ID card is required.

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: Craniotomy, Tumor resection, Drain placement, Complicated cervical spine Fraction, shunt placement, overflow unit for Level I trauma. EVD placement, ICP monitoring, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Seizure and Epilepsy Certified Center, Post-thrombolytic (TNK), Post-DSA (angio likely post thrombectomy or stent).

Unit/Facility Details: Number of Beds: 17

Special Requests: RTO must be included at time of submittal or will not be approved- no exceptions.

Shift & Scheduling: 50% of holidays and weekends. Every other weekend.

Floating Requirements: Float to ICU and Med Surg (1:4). Floating is required and mandatory for all units. All travelers will be expected to float to any area at UMHS as a Patient Observer (PTOB) – “Sitter.”
