Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 24 months of Progressive Care Unit experience.
Trauma Level 1 experience is preferred from any number of months
References
Candidates must provide 1 charge/lead reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Missouri license or compact license

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Weekend Required: 8 weekend shifts in Saint Luke’s 6-week schedule period, combination of F/S/S.
  • No On-Call

Required Skills/Experience: PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Use of Rapid Response Teams, Pacemakers/Temporary/Permanent, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, TAVR, TR Band, Titration of Insulin drips, Feeding tube care and management, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Starting IVs, Heparin Protocols, Manage Cardiac drips- no titration, PCA, Titrate Cardiac drips, Titrate Vasoactive drips, Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, Nasal Cannula, Oxygen face masks, Portable Oxygen tank, Non-invasive airway management, Tracheostomy Management, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac

Floating Requirements: MICC units

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: Caring for thoracic and vascular surgery patients immediately post-operatively after recovered from anesthesia and post-operative cardiothoracic surgery patients upon transfer out of CVICU. Post-operative patients include: CABG Valve replacement (AVR, MVR, TVR) Aortic Aneurysm Repair Esophagectomy Thoracotomy/VAT Carotid Endarterectomy TAVR BKA/AKA Femoral to distal bypass surgery patients having multiple co-morbidities including advanced heart failure, end stage renal disease, diabetes, etc. Chest tubes Epicardial wires & temporary pacemaker Wound vacs Multiple IV drips (Milrinone, Dobutamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Insulin, Lasix, Triple Antibiotic therapy, etc.) Telemetry Central Venous Access (Cordis, TLC, CVAD, PICC) Dressing changes, incision care, open wounds Blood product administration (PRBC, FFP, Plts) Epidural/PCA pain management Bladder scan Tracheostomy
