Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience.
BSN completion preferred
Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a District of Columbia license

Previous Employment Requirements: Return Staff Policy If a nurse has held previous employment with Medstar, must be gone for a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.

Required Skills/Experience May screen strong MS RN candidates with 1.5 to < 2 years MS exp, who acquire that 1.5+ yrs in a steady flow (not a cumulative total across different jobs.

Required Skills: Blood Product Administration Central line care/management Feeding tube care and management Interpretation of dysrhythmias Management of dysrhythmias Isolation Precautions MS/Tele Nasal Cannula Oxygen administration

Preferred Skills/Experience:

Preferred Skills: Accessing Ports* Phlebotomy* PICC line management* Starting and maintaining IVs* Heparin Protocols* Wound Care/Wound Vac* Peripheral nerve block catheters* Surgical drains* Insulin*

Required Credentials: References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: Common surgical procedures include reconstructive plastic surgery, diabetic limb salvage often with reconstructive flaps, complex wound management, and surgical wound care.

Types of Patients on Unit: Adults

Unit/Facility Details: Our 16-bed Plastic Surgery and Limb Salvage unit, with all-private rooms and the ability to offer continuous pulse oximetry, provides exceptional post- operative care for patients undergoing complex procedures.

Unit Accepts 1st time Traveler

Manager may or may not interview. Clinician must be okay with this. If Clinician has questions, please email the AM.

Auto Offer Requirements: No RTO, DC License in Hand, Holiday coverage availability
