Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
3 months of travel experience is required from any number of months.
Must have at least 24 months of Progressive Care Unit experience.
BSN completion preferred
Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a District of Columbia license

Previous Employment Requirements: Return Staff Policy If a nurse has held previous employment with Medstar, must be gone for a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.

Required Skills/Experience Hard Stop - At least 2 yrs specialty exp required

Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Interpretation and Management of dysrhythmias, Starting Ivs, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)

Required Skills: Central line care/management Peripheral Line Care/Management Starting and maintaining IVs Chest tubes-Emerson/PleurEvac High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) Nasal Cannula Heparin Protocols PCA Interpretation of dysrhythmias Management of dysrhythmias Telemetry -on the unit monitoring PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown Telemetry

Preferred Skills/Experience: MS/Tele, IV insulin protocols

Teaching Hospital Experience Preferred

Required Credentials: References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Pending DC license accepted for later start dates at a lower rate, but must have DC license in hand prior to start date

Types of Patients on Unit: Adults, Geriatrics

Our other patients are usually medicine primary; often seeing GI bleeds, pneumonia, liver failure, CHF exacerbations, etc.

We take all thoracic surgery patients, Le Fort patients, and AAA repair patients.

Unit/Facility Details: We are a 28-bed intermediate care unit.

Type of Facility: Short Term Acute Care

We have a Medical-Surgical Population with variety of diagnoses. We are the designated unit for Thoracic Surgery & average about 5-10 cases per week. Our other patients are usually medicine primary; often seeing GI bleeds, pneumonia, liver failure, CHF exacerbations, etc.

Manager may or may not interview. Clinician must be okay with this. If Clinician has questions, please email the AM.

COVID-19 - all travelers must be able and wiling to accept assignments that include COVID-19 patients

Shift & Scheduling: Start Date: 11/3

On Call/Weekend Requirement: no on call, weekends included in rotation

Every Other weekend
