Required Skills/Experience: Intermediate/Stepdown Level RN: 1 year of nursing experience required. Skills required: Intermediate/Stepdown RN: Comfortability to take MedSurg assignments – please decline if not. Previous experience with our types of patients, including IMC/stepdown acuity and Neuro. Ability to read/interpret cardiac strips, chest tubes, trach care (no fresh traches), NGT tube placement and management, JP drains, line management – PICC/Midline/CVL/PIV placement, wound vacs (Wound Care RN will change out the vac but RN must know how to assess and will need to change to wet/dry dressing in case of malfunction), wound care/dressing changes, medication administration, TPN/tube feeding, blood product transfusions, urinary and fecal collection devices. Drip titration of below medications: most commonly – Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed (up to 5 mcg), occasionally esmolol drips (will train if traveler has not done these) or other Betablockers or other antihypertensives.
Required Credentials: Required Education: RN: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing. NURSYS.
Unit/Facility Details: Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, if greater than 1 year of experience.
Special Requests: Approval of time off? Able to approve 1.5 weeks off – must extend contract to accommodate a full 13-week contract Blackout dates from August 1-18th (exact dates change each year) due to our Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. No time off is approved during this time.
Shift & Scheduling: Scheduling: 6-week schedules. Weekend rotation: Travelers could be scheduled for up to 4 out of the 6 weekends, which include Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Please include in offer if traveler is open to working every weekend (WOW) as this may be a possibility. Will they be on call? No mandatory call time. If it is an extra shift on top of their already guaranteed hours, and we have enough staff then they could be placed on call for that shift. Holiday Expectations: must be RTO request prior to offer – at this time Holiday RTO is not being accepted.
Floating Requirements: Floating: Any Adult Inpatient Unit - Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular Unit, Oncology, Observation. Will float in rotation with other travelers.
