Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 12 months of Step Down Unit experience.
Trauma Level 2 experience is preferred from any number of months
Experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 charge/lead references from within the past 2 years in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a New York license

  • PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years.
  • MS/Tele, Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Post MI, IV insulin protocols, Titration of Insulin drips, Feeding tube care and management, Continuous Bladder Irrigation, Renal failure, Accessing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Phlebotomy, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Starting IVs, Heparin Protocols, Manage Cardiac drips- no titration, PCA, Thrombolytic Agents, Titrate Cardiac drips, CVA, Seizure disorders, Substance Withdrawal, Ortho trauma, Peripheral nerve block catheters, Total Joint Replacements, Traction, Mastectomy, Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, External CPAP/BIPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of ABGs, Nasal Cannula, Oxygen face masks, Non-invasive airway management, Tracheostomy Management, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac
  • Patient ratio experience: 1:7

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Previous Charge experience
  • Teaching Hospital experience

Preferred Credentials: TCAR

Types of Patients on Unit:

  • PCU and MS Tele, Surgical pre and post; ENT, general Surgery, Trauma surgery, Ortho surgery. Overflow medical diagnosis patients. Rare Pediatric patient, Travelers not assigned unless experienced.
  • Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Infants, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics

Unit/Facility Details: Mixed acuity unit PCU, MS Tele and MS patients. Ratios adjusted by acuity.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • 36 or 48s.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other

Floating Requirements: Float: may be floated to the corresponding sister units. West 2, West 3, and Observation unit are all sister units.

Lab Completion: All health-related requirements and lab work must be completed within 5 calendar days of signing.
