Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required from any number of months.
Travel experience is required from any number of months.
24 months of Intensive Care Unit experience is required from any number of months.
3 months of experience with Epic is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 3 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

Guaranteed Hour: 36

Will not accept a first-time traveler (will make exception depending on experience)

Patient Types:

Sepsis, Pneumonia, COPD, CHF, GI Bleeds, ETOH/IVDA, SI, Psych, COVID

Neuro: Stable CVA (no interventions) Will do TPA at times, TBI (stable)

CVICU: Pacemakers, Angiograms, Post Cath (TR Bands Radial and Femoral), Fem-Pop Bypass, Pacemaker Insertion

Surgical Patients: Ortho, General Surgery

Manual Proning, Temporary Pacemakers

No Open Hearts, No Neuro intervention, HD (ICU RNs will be trained to do dialysis (short runs), No CRRT

Travelers are not expected to care for:

Balloon Pumps, Hypothermia Protocol (unless they are comfortable)

COVID & PPE:

COVID (ICU, PCU, & Medsurg) 1:3 for PCU or Med/Surg, try but since surge have had to go up to 1:4 Not a large population – but does include Med/Surg, PCU, and ICU level You may have the med/surg COVID patients

Skills required:

Strong Peripheral IVs (preferred), Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, Invasive Line Management (CVP, Alines), IV Medication Titration, Vent/trach/high-flo BiPap Management (RT does manage these devices, but knowledge of them is expected)

Floating:

Travelers will float in turn with the rest of the unit, including to the MedSurg department. Ratios are 1:5-6

Travelers taking an assignment in the PCU is not considered floating

Orientation:

4 hours of orientation with the clinical educator (get badge, login information, unit tour, policies/procedures)

This will be during the day.

3 shifts on the unit

Traveler Telemetry Competency Required

Required to be completed and passed prior to start. SimpliFi Compliance is responsible for grading this exam.

Scheduling:

Self-scheduling

2 weekends a month – but may be less depending on staffing numbers

Schedule is provided 6 weeks at a time

First schedule will cover until the next schedule comes out and you are able to self schedule

Time off: okay to approve up to 7 days off

Candidate should extend if they not able to work 36 hours due to time off

Holiday Expectations: 1-2 holidays possible per season
