Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 24 months of Intensive Care Unit experience.
Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Maine license or compact license

Additional Details:

Housing in ME becomes more expensive in the summer months, beginning in May. Be sure to confirm you are comfortable with housing options before applying.

Roles requiring state licensure only: License should not expire within 45 days following start date

Travel Pairs: If you are in a relationship, EMMC will not schedule you on the same days. If you are not in a relationship, you can be scheduled for the same days if not on the same shift/unit. Managers will not guarantee the same schedule for travel pairs.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Neuro and Trauma experience are an absolute must – EVD & ICP monitoring
  • Ventilator management, critical care drips, drain management, stroke experience, hemodynamic lines (A-lines/CVP), cardiac rhythm recognition, chest tubes, tracheostomy care

Preferred Skills/Experience: PICU experience - could float to this unit if experienced and there is a need

Types of Patients on Unit:

  • Medical, Surgical, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, Interventional patients
  • ICP monitoring, External Ventricular drain (EVD), spinal precautions, DKA, Multi system trauma patients, Sepsis, ARDS, COVID, PNA, COPD, Stroke

Unit Details:

  • Beds: 26 ICU; include some negative pressure rooms
  • 1:2 – based on acuity (may get 3rd patient as one is being discharged or moved to the floor)
  • Parking: Free parking in designated areas

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Weekend rotation: Every other (Nightshift: Fri/Sat)
  • Holiday Expectations: Varies, based on need

Floating Requirements:

  • To the Cardiac Care Unit (ICU) – will take patients within scope
  • Cardiac Stepdown or Medical Stepdown
