Travel Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit

BJC policy: Every other weekend required.

RNs only - Clinicians who obtained RN degree outside of the U.S. and do not hold MO/IL/Compact license require extended licensing and compliance timeframe.

New Tower

Shift & Scheduling: Rotating shifts as needed (0630, 0730, 0830, 0930). Monday-Friday, rotating starts. No weekends, no call

• Required Skills/Experience:

• Critical care experience, Inpatient, Level I Trauma Center, Phase I PACU, Dysrhythmia recognition/management, Blood Product Administration, Phlebotomy, Starting IVs, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, Care of Ventilated patients, General

• Must have 2 years of level 1 Critical Care/ICU and PACU experience for 1st time traveler

• Required: Post-cardiac surgery, lobectomy, chest trauma, Ex-lap and splenectomy and trauma patients. Please call out if they do not have these skills in the screen.

• Experience with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia

• Will need to pass Relias EKG exam

• Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Previous Charge Experience, Teaching Hospital Experience

• Needs high acuity inpatient PACU and ICU experience preferred.

• Types of Patients on Unit:
• Pt. population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric population in level 1 trauma center.
• Surgical patients we recover include: Neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant.
• We do not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants.
• Unit has own PCT/transport team
• Unit open 24/7. Consists of 38 patient bays. Staff needed for recovery of vast array of acute post op patients. Critical care experience required as some patients require artificial airways, invasive monitoring (including ICP), transfusions, and vasoactive drugs. Surgical patients we recover include: Neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant. We do not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants.
• *Night shift would have to learn how to work up a preop patient

Floating Requirements: Float to ICU, main PACU, PCU, MS, ER Holding

Previous Employment Requirements All Standard Travelers (reside outside of a 75 mile radius) can stay for an 18 month period. Must take a 3 month break after 18 months.
