Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 1 year of experience working as an RN in an outpatient cardiology clinic setting and triage setting is required.
  • Previous Charge Experience: Required.
  • Medication reconciliation.
  • Obtain 12 lead EKG/ECG.
  • Obtain vital signs.
  • Pain assessment.
  • Patient health questionnaire/history/allergies.
  • Arrhythmia interpretation.
  • Cardiac arrest response.
  • Hypertension.
  • AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
  • Altered level of consciousness.
  • Oxygen administration.
  • Follow up phone calls.
  • Patient education, especially around lifestyle and medication adherence.

Required Credentials:

  • Cannot have any hits/suspensions on license or any background hits from any point in the past.
  • If you have a multistate/compact nursing license, you will be required to complete a one time 6 hour suicide prevention training according to the WA state regulations.

Special Requests:

  • RTO must be listed at time of submission.
  • All positions at Providence Health & Services require that any and all lab items requested during onboarding be completed within 72 hours of signing a contract - no exceptions. This means candidates must be responsive and willing to go to a lab to complete health orders ASAP after signing. Failure to comply may lead to a pushed start or cancellation as assessed by the facility.
  • References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.
  • You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing.

Unit Details:

  • Adult and geriatric patient population.
  • Patient population includes cardiology patients who may be preparing for or recovering from procedures such as cardiac catheterization, PCI/stent placement, EP procedures, structural heart procedures, cardioversions, or vascular/interventional studies.
  • Many patients may be medically complex and require careful assessment of symptoms, anticoagulation status, medication changes, and post-procedure complications.
  • The clinic role is generally ambulatory, not procedural sedation or cath lab intra-procedure nursing unless specifically trained/credentialed.
  • Triage patient calls/messages using clinic protocols and provider direction.
  • Reinforce medication instructions already ordered by providers.
  • Assess symptoms and determine appropriate escalation.
  • Escalate urgently for chest pain, new/worsening shortness of breath, syncope/near-syncope, stroke-like symptoms, uncontrolled bleeding, unstable vitals, or signs of vascular access complications.
