Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience:

  • L&D travel experience required.
  • Required L&D clinical skills: NST (non-stress tests), reflex checks/edema assessment/clonus, diabetes mellitus, malpresentations (breech/face/brow), multiple gestation, placenta previa/abruptio, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor, RH incompatibilities, uterine rupture, VBAC management/trial of labor, use of external fetal monitoring, use of internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, administration of blood and blood products, drawing venous blood, starting and maintaining peripheral IVs, antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin (oxytocin), prostaglandins, terbutaline, amnioinfusion, assisting with high-risk delivery, assisting with vaginal delivery, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock, C-section recovery, APGAR scores, baby nurse ("baby catcher"), collecting cord samples, ID/security banding, neonatal resuscitation, radiant warmers/thermoregulation, infant identification, newborn assessment, newborn hypoglycemia, epidural anesthesia, general anesthesia, opioids, pain assessment and management, Foley catheter insertion, fundus/lochia/perineum care, wound assessment and care, vaginal delivery, cesarean section, bladder distension, couplet care, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • High-risk OB unit experience preferred.

Required Credentials:

  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.

Special Requests:

  • Locals not accepted.
  • IU Health will not allow IN RNs to work at their facilities. Exceptions include: Periop/OR RNs, Allied and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from this rule. Periop includes ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS.

Unit Details:

  • Adult labor and delivery patient population.
  • Facility averages 200-300 births per month.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Must work 2/3 major holidays.
  • Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week.

Floating Requirements:

  • May float to Methodist Hospital ED - will not take primary assignment, will provide OB-specific care alongside a primary RN. On first shift at Methodist, nurse is asked to arrive 30 minutes early for quick orientation to unit and supplies.

Details:

AUTO OFFER - NO INTERVIEW: This is an auto-offer position. You will likely not interview with the facility prior to receiving an offer. However, an interview can be arranged upon request. All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment. Any offers for this job will require a clear "Yes" or "No" response from the nurse within 24hrs or the offer must be declined.
