Unit Details: Mixed-acuity cardiovascular telemetry unit caring for critically ill patients, post-cardiac surgery patients, and more stable monitored patients. Responsibilities include telemetry interpretation, rapid response to changes in condition, and administration of drips including levophed, epinephrine, dobutamine, vasopressin, cardizem, amiodarone, primacor, and diuretics. High-volume cardiovascular procedures and cases include open heart surgery, vascular surgeries (fem-pop, CEA, AAA repair), heart catheterizations, TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman, and EP procedures. Manages patients with atrial fibrillation and CHF. Patient ratios are typically 1:4-1:5 for telemetry patients, 1:3 for vascular surgery, 1:2 for ICU-level care, and 1:1 for immediate post-cardiac surgery recovery.
