Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: In addition to meeting the unit experience requirements, your work experience needs to reflect at least 12 months (1 year) of uninterrupted experience working in the same unit/specialty you’re applying to. Must be able to suture as directed by the surgeons. Strong cardiac skills.
Required Credentials: RN license accepted in lieu of CST certification. Candidates without CST certification must provide evidence that they were employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility before July 1, 2009, or hold a Certified Surgical Assistant certification.
Special Requests: Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit. If multiple shifts are posted, only apply to your preferred shift. Option for block scheduling. Candidates who were surgeons/physicians in another country will not be accepted.
Unit Details: Acts as the primary surgical assistant during cardiovascular surgery, including tissue handling, exposure, hemostasis, incision closure, maintaining a sterile field, anticipating the surgeon’s needs, assisting with room turnover to support case flow, cannulating when going on bypass and coming off bypass, and passing cannulation suture as needed. Uses Cerner.
Shift & Scheduling: Holidays and call required. Max RTO: 1 week.
Floating Requirements: Could float to Main OR.
