Travel Nurse (RN) - Pediatric Emergency Department

Nicotine free campus. Must test negative.

Required Skills/Experience:
2+ years experience required in a pediatric setting and large Level 1 trauma hospital.

Shift & Scheduling:
No self-scheduling.
Every other weekend is required.
No call.
Holidays are required as needed.

Unit Details:
Average daily patient volume is 200, with 65000+ patients per year.
Patient population ranges from pediatric minor illness to major trauma, and 40% of patients are transfers from other hospitals.
Patients range from birth to under 21 years old, with occasional adult patients.
There is no in-house psychiatry or psychiatric beds.
The ED has safe rooms for acute psychiatric patients, who are medically stabilized and transferred to a psychiatric facility.
Average patient stay is 3.5 hours.
The average wait for an admission bed is 6 hours from arrival to the ED.
Fast Track patient ratio is 1:5/6.
Equipment includes Sigma syringe pumps and Med Fusion 3500 IV pumps.
PIVs are started by RNs and paramedics; RNs and paramedics perform phlebotomy, and an IV team is available.
RNs, techs, and paramedics perform 12-lead EKGs.
An in-house transport system is available.
Standardized airway carts are used, and pharmacy responds to all codes.
Care uses pathways rather than protocols, with physician-initiated orders.
ED security includes metal detectors and an off-duty Little Rock police officer from 1500-2300.
