Travel Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Unit

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Special Requests:

• Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
• Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months.
• Cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
• Must live outside 50 miles of the facility.
• Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility.
• RTO must be submitted upfront, limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract. Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submission.

Required Credentials:

• Pass/fail open-book exam on Friday during orientation; minimum 90% required to pass.
• Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG exam required during onboarding.

Unit Details:

• Nurse-patient ratio 1:2, with occasional 1:1 for TPA, balloon pump, and craniotomy recovery patients.
• Young adult through geriatric patient population with sepsis, STEMI, COVID, stroke, neurosurgery, renal failure, respiratory failure, COPD, cancer, and DKA.
• Unit manages ICPs and occasional balloon pumps; travelers may not necessarily be assigned those cases.
• Equipment includes Gaymar Hypothermia, Arrow balloon pump, Camino neuro monitoring, CRRT, Impella, EVDs, and lumbar drains.
• RNs titrate drips including sedation, paralytics, pressors, antihypertensives, heparin, and insulin.
• RNs read and interpret their own telemetry strips.
• Uses an eICU remote monitoring system.
• Culturally diverse patient population, including many patients who do not speak English.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Every other weekend.
• Holidays as needed.

Floating Requirements:

• Mainly floats to PCU but can float to all areas in the hospital depending on abilities.
