Required Skills/Experience: Float experience does not count towards the unit experience requirement. IV insertion and PICC line skills required. Must be able to read strips.
Required Credentials: Relias exams must be completed within 48hrs of offer acceptance; failure on the second attempt may result in pre-start cancellation. Math and/or dysrhythmia exam required.
Unit Details: Palliative care inpatient unit. Primary population includes patients needing symptom management and/or end-of-life care for conditions such as cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, pulmonary disease, or neurological disease. Common procedures and skills include epidurals, vents, central line management, tracheotomy care, ostomy management, wound vac care, Foley care, peripheral lab draws, arterial blood draws, Dubhoff/NGT placement and management, and intravenous drips including cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips with cardiac monitoring. Common equipment includes wound vac, PCA, epidural, and trach equipment. Common medications include insulin gtt, heparin gtt, morphine, and dilaudid.
