Travel Nurse (RN) - Neuro Trauma Intensive Care Unit

Required Skills/Experience:

• Must be comfortable with ventilator management and medication titration.
• Must have experience with arterial lines and central lines.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Experience with CRRT is preferred.
• EVD/ICP experience is preferred.

Unit Details:

• Common cases include complex head, chest, abdominal, and orthopedic trauma; stroke requiring IV tPA, thrombectomy, embolization, or aneurysm coiling; adult complex burns; pediatric burns up to 18-20% BSA without respiratory involvement; and general medical and surgical patients requiring critical care.
• The unit uses CRRT, EVDs, and ICP monitoring.
• RNs titrate all common ICU drips.
• The ICU uses ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment; respiratory therapy manages the equipment.
• There are no monitor technicians; central monitors are on the unit and in rooms, using Philips monitors. RNs must know EKG rhythms and assess when intervention is needed.
• Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7, with eICU coverage after hours for pulmonary care.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Every other weekend: Saturday and Sunday.
• Every other holiday: Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
• No call or standby requirement.

Floating Requirements:

• Expected to float throughout the facility except the ER and OB. If floated to Med-Surg, the ratio is capped at 1:4.
