Required Skills/Experience: Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown work setting experience required. Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required: interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, on-unit telemetry monitoring, and use of rapid response teams. Cardiovascular skills required: post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, TR Band. Gastrointestinal skills required: feeding tube care and management. Genitourinary/renal skills required: pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure. IV therapy/phlebotomy skills required: accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs. Medication skills required: heparin protocols, manage cardiac drips - no titration, manage vasoactive drips - no titration, PCA, procedural sedation administration, titrate cardiac drips, titrate vasoactive drips. Neurological/psychiatric case experience required: craniotomy, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury. Orthopedics case experience required: ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements. Plastic surgery case experience required: skin grafts, surgical drains. Respiratory skills required: care of ventilated patient, chest tubes - Emerson/Pleur-evac, external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of ABGs, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tank, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management. Professional skills required: isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac. Must be able to take tracheostomies with ventilators.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Teaching hospital experience preferred.
Special Requests: References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years. You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing. Block schedule requests should be discussed with the manager. Ideally no more than 5 days of RTO.
Unit Details: Adult patient population. Very fast paced unit with a high amount of patient throughput. Nurses are typically at a 1:4 patient ratio with a free charge. The charge may take up to 4 patients if needed, but this does not happen often. The unit is the hospital's only dedicated IMC unit and takes patients of all diagnoses.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. No call.
