Required Skills/Experience: Experience with IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy regimens and administration, including hanging/handling precautions (PPE) for chemotherapy and monitoring for side effects of medication.

Unit Details: Nurse:patient ratios are based on unit census: 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights; can vary to 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights. Also staffs 1:1 for specific medications/therapies. Patient population includes all types of cancer, most commonly lymphoma and leukemia, plus hematology, medical, radiation oncology, and gyn/onc patients. No titratable drips; set-rate drips include heparin and chemotherapy (24-hr bags – Methotrexate). Uses CPAP; BiPAP only if it is the patient's home regimen for sleeping at night, with RT managing both 24/7. House-wide telemetry; RNs do not read/interpret strips. Phillips monitors. Uses Epic Beacon for EMR documentation.

Shift & Scheduling: Self-scheduling; schedule is completed in a 6-week timeframe. Every other weekend; for nights, the weekend is Fri/Sat, as staffing permits. Every other holiday. No call.

Floating Requirements: Traveler RNs are added to the float rotation with all other RNs. A floating episode can consist of a 4 hour or greater period of time. When determining whose turn it is to float, it will be the RN whose float is the furthest away from the past. Floating to any other Gen Med level of care.
