References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must have experience with vents and central lines.

Required Credentials:

  • Open-book skills exam on Friday during orientation; must score 90% to pass.

Special Requests:

  • Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
  • Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months.
  • Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility.
  • Must be outside 50 miles and may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity.

Unit Details:

  • Provides neonatal transport services.
  • Patient ratios follow AWHONN/NANN guidelines: 3-4 continuous care, 2-3 intermediate care, 1-2 intensive care, 1 multi-system support care.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Generally every third weekend and holiday, but may be more if needed.
  • Requires 2 extra shifts every 6 weeks.

Floating Requirements:

  • Routinely floats to Mother-Baby or L&D to care for newborns as the baby nurse/transition nurse and to care for well babies on the mother-baby unit while another nurse cares for the mom.
  • Rarely may float to the house as a safety advocate or task nurse.
  • Floating is rotated, and there is no mother/baby float pool.
