Travel Nurse (RN) - Intermediate Care Unit

Required Skills/Experience: If only Med/Surg experience with some PCU, 2 years is required. Must have completed at least 2 13-week assignments. Neuro/Trauma: must have trauma experience, experience with stroke patients, and performing Q2H neuro checks. Medical/Surgical: High Flow O2, chest tubes, wound vacs/VAC dressing changes, BiPAP, general drain/ostomy care, IV starts, and experience with trached patients on vents, including how to administer 100% FiO2 via suction support and silence alarms; trach care and suctioning (RT will educate). Cardiac: temporary pacemakers, TR bands, post femoral sheath care, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. Drips: cardiac drips (Amio - set rate, Cardizem) and titrating insulin; travelers without insulin/cardiac gtt experience will be declined.

Required Credentials: Roles requiring state licensure only: License should not expire within 45 days following start date.

Unit Details: Patient populations include Level 2 trauma patients; strokes; stable craniotomies (coils or clips); CIWA; seizure precautions; respiratory illnesses including COVID/Flu/Pneumonia; long term trachs with vents; respiratory failure requiring BiPAP or High Flow O2; COPD exacerbation; post-op general surgery; sepsis; IVDA; thyroid storm; STEMI; NSTEMI; CHF; AFIB with RVR; s/p Cardiac Cath; s/p Ablation; and 24h post-op TAVR. Support on the unit includes CNA support (1:6-12, staffing dependent), a charge nurse who may have patients if needed, phlebotomy, a 24/7 ICU-trained resource nurse, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, trauma surgery monitoring own patients, PT/OT M-F, and an IV/VAT team for US-guided IVs and PICC/Midline placement; RNs start their own PIVs. Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE monitors.

Special Requests: You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility. Travel pairs: If you are in a relationship, EMMC will not schedule you on the same days. If you are not in a relationship, you can be scheduled for the same days if not on the same shift/unit. Managers will not guarantee the same schedule for travel pairs. Time off requests go through the manager. Holiday expectations vary based on unit needs.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. May be placed on low census call back.

Floating Requirements: Float to ED, ICU, or CCU if there is an intermediate assignment in one of those departments.
