Required Skills/Experience: Assist radiologist and/or performing physician in the performance of interventional and special procedures. Provide the patient care essential to the exams. Can perform surgery procedures required by team/shift. Safety/Risk Management: Locates and properly operates oxygen, suction, blood pressure, and other essential patient care equipment. Consistently observes patients before, during, and after procedures. Makes and uses appropriate immobilization devices. Appropriately transfers patients to/from stretchers, wheelchairs, and on/off procedure table, giving care to IVs and other appliances. Safely operates all equipment and immediately reports malfunctions. Locates all emergency switches. Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures and radiation safety. Assures that all data entered/retrieved from physician orders and/or computer system is accurate. Verifies accuracy prior to procedure. Coordination of Services: Reviews orders for diagnosis and prescriptions. Collaborates with staff members and physicians to assure delivery of optimal patient care at all times. Utilizes resources appropriately, revising department schedule and staff assignments as needed. Performs all procedures according to protocol stated in procedure manual/prescribed by radiologist/physician. Presents completed procedure to radiologist/physician for interpretation. Keeps all documentation current and available. Follows through with any problem areas. Evaluates diagnostic procedure for appropriateness and takes corrective measures if needed. Screens for previous procedures. Complex Aspects: Assist radiologist and/or performing physician with interventional procedures including routine and emergency procedures. Assists with procedures maintaining sterile technique and sterile fields. Positions and immobilizes patients. Demonstrates ability to perform exams on outpatients, inpatients, ICU, and ER including exams on trauma patients. Obtains appropriate clinical history and documents information. Obtains informed consent if necessary. Correctly obtains and administers contrast materials for patient exams. Timely sends all images to the RIC.
