Travel Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Transitional Care Unit

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.

Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Cardiac experience preferred.

Special Requests:

• Block scheduling allowed.

Unit Details:

• Nurse:patient ratios: stepdown 1:3; floor 1:5 or 1:6.
• Common patient populations/diagnoses include cardiology, heart failure, cardiac surgery, medicine, and hospitalist/med-surg.
• RNs titrate drips including heparin, insulin, nitro, Cardizem, nicardipine, Lasix, amio, and dobutamine.
• Dedicated charge nurse; goal is a free charge nurse, though they may take 1-3 patients depending on staffing.
• RT equipment includes NC, CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC, and trach to vent; dedicated RT for the 9th floor.
• Tele techs monitor and record telemetry strips; Phillips monitoring.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Weekend schedule.
• Self-scheduling in Kronos; scheduling is generally flexible.
• Holiday requirement: one eve and one day (Black Friday or Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day).
• No call.

Floating Requirements:

• Traveler is first to be pulled from the unit if needed; rotational pull-to-floor assignments are tracked by charge nurses and are typically 1 out of 3 shifts.
