Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Required Skills/Experience:
Strong neuro experience and a history of caring for stroke patients are required.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
EVD experience is preferred.

Special Requests:
For current or previous employees, cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.
Can only submit to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system.
Previous perm candidates must be gone for 2 years.
Previous travelers who were there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years.

Unit Details:
Nurse-patient ratios vary: 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5-6 for the floor (EMU).
Patient population includes higher-acuity neuroscience patients, EVDs, TPA cases, strokes, EMU/epilepsy monitoring, seizures, and post-craniotomy patients.
Patients 24 hours post-TPA would be managed by permanent staff only; permanent staff would probably be assigned EVD patients.
Common titratable or set-rate drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, nitro, dopamine, Nipride, ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and insulin.
Titration is performed only under physician orders in the step-down setting; some protocols may allow titration after education.
Floor vents may be used and are usually on a set setting; respiratory therapy and physicians manage them, and any required changes go back to the ICU.
Telemetry is used on the unit, but RNs do not have to read strips.

Shift & Scheduling:
Three consecutive shifts may be allowed but are not guaranteed; travelers must be flexible.
Weekend coverage is every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule.
Travelers are expected to work into the holiday rotation.

Floating Requirements:
May float to 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W.
