Unit Details: Typically 2-3 caths in the morning; if no afternoon caths are scheduled, the cath lab is used for procedural/IR overflow cases. Cardiac, device placement, and vascular cases including pacemaker and defibrillator insertion/manipulation; ports, PICCs, arteriograms, nephrostomy tubes, UAE as needed, and Hickman lines. Heavy vascular work includes lower extremity angiograms, occasional upper/fistulagrams, interventional cases, PE, DVT, thrombolytics, venograms, and fistula creation. Cath lab cases include right and left heart caths with intervention and pericardiocentesis; mostly radial with some femoral access. Will not be required to circulate; RN will circulate. Uses Encompass, MERGE/Merge Hemo, Siemens Xray, Alaris, Omnicell, and Philips monitors; occasional balloon pumps.
Shift & Scheduling: Mon-Fri; no weekends. No call. Closed on major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and NYD.
