Travel Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Unit

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Must be comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry strips.

Unit Details:

• Common diagnoses include DKA, septic shock, ETOH withdrawal, hypoxemia, acute respiratory distress, and COVID.
• RNs titrate drips. Common titratable or set-rate drips include propofol, Levophed, dobutamine, Precedex, fentanyl, insulin, esmolol, Versed, ketamine, and others.
• Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7. An intensivist is in house M-F 8-5; after hours and on weekends, telemedicine with OHSU is used.
• Respiratory therapy is available in the facility 24/7 and assists in the ICU.
• Monitor techs use Mindray.
• MS, IMCU, and ICU are all on the same floor.
• The assignment requires functioning with more limited resources and helping out as needed.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Management creates a 2-week block schedule; night shifts are grouped 3-4 shifts in a row when possible.
• Every other weekend.
• Holiday rotation may be required when a holiday falls on a regularly scheduled shift.
• No call.

Floating Requirements:

• May float to IMCU or MS with a full patient assignment. With prior ED experience, the clinician may be asked to float to the ED; without ED experience, the clinician may be asked to serve as helping hands in the ER.
