Additional Details:

References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years. Manager may or may not interview. Clinician must be okay with this. If clinician has questions, please email the AM. You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • IV insertion and moderate sedation.
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, multisystem organ failure, IV insulin protocols, GI surgery, chronic/acute renal failure and IV therapy, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drains (EVD), hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, post neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, respiratory/thoracic care, infection prevention, isolation precautions/use of PPE, phlebotomy, and surgical wounds with drains/Wound Vac.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Previous Charge Experience: Preferred.

Required Credentials:

  • For DC locations – You must have DC license in hand, but certain units accept pending (See JD). MedStar will usually accept a later booking date if you have applied for DC licensure.
  • For MD locations – You must have compact license or MD license.

Unit Details:

  • Adult and geriatric patient population.
  • Post-transplant (liver, kidney/pancreas, small intestine, islet cell, multivisceral), ESLD, ESRD, thoracic/abdominal/ENT/flaps/general surgery, sepsis, multisystem organ failure, pre-transplant hepatology patients, overflow from neurosurgery (craniotomy, CVA, etc.), and overflow from MICU.
  • Uses Cerner.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • No on call.
  • Every other weekend.

Floating Requirements:

  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.
