Required Skills/Experience: Must have MS oncology and at least 1 year inpatient hematology oncology experience in work history and checklist. Must have experience with leukemia/blood dyscrasias. Acute care experience must be current/today, working consistently in the last 12 months, and in the specialty for which they are applying. MS/Tele experience, telemetry, interpretation of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, use of rapid response teams, feeding tube care and management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs.
Required Credentials: Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.
Special Requests: Cannot apply to any James Cancer Hospital & Research facilities if you have an active application to any Ohio State University facilities.
Unit Details: Adult and geriatric acute leukemia population, primarily newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients. Medical unit with a high volume of blood products, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management. Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention. Uses B450 monitors, GE telemetry system, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds.
Shift & Scheduling: Variable weekend coverage based on unit needs. First week of orientation is Mon-Fri dayshift; second week includes 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor. If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department’s needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time.
Floating Requirements: Float to other MedSurg Oncology units.
