Travel Nurse (RN) - Oncology Unit

Required Skills/Experience:
Experience with IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy regimens and administration, including hanging/handling precautions (PPE) for chemotherapy and monitoring for medication side effects.

Unit Details:
Patient population includes all types of cancer, most commonly lymphoma and leukemia, as well as hematology, medical, radiation oncology, and Gyn/Onc patients.
Staffing is based on unit census: 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights; can vary to 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights. Also staffs 1:1 for specific medications/therapies.
No titratable drips; medication adjustments require a physician order.
Common set-rate drips include heparin and chemotherapy, including 24-hour Methotrexate bags.
CPAP is used; BiPAP only when part of the patient's home nighttime regimen. RT helps manage both CPAP and BiPAP 24/7.
Uses house-wide telemetry with Phillips monitors; RNs do not read or interpret strips.
Uses Epic Beacon for EMR documentation.

Shift & Scheduling:
Self-scheduling; schedule is completed in a 6-week timeframe.
Every other weekend; nights = Fri/Sat, as staffing permits.
Every other holiday.
No call.

Floating Requirements:
Traveler RNs are added to the float rotation with all other RNs. Floating episodes can consist of a 4-hour or greater period. Float assignments are to any other Gen Med level of care and rotate based on whose last float was furthest in the past.
