Additional Details:

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.

Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Required Credentials:

  • All travelers must take and pass a cardiac rhythm exam.

Unit Details:

  • Common patient populations include CHF, cardiac cath, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, orthopedic, and oncology patients; permanent staff administer chemotherapy.
  • Mainly 1:5-6 for both days and nights on most units; once or twice a month, assignments could reach 7 patients toward the end of the shift depending on acuity.
  • Uses Phillips telemetry; most units have monitor techs.
  • CPAP and BiPap only; RT manages.
  • Will not have to titrate drips.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Every other weekend; Sat/Sun for nights.
  • Work in the holiday rotation schedule with permanent staff.

Floating Requirements:

  • Most frequent float units are 6N and 7N; other units include 4N, 5S, 6S, and Critical Care.
  • Float pool RNs report to the clinical coordinator's office prior to shift start for unit assignment and may float to all 6 units, though they will most likely be assigned a parent unit and only very basic telemetry patients within their scope of practice.
