Dress Code: Artificial nails are not permitted. Hair coloring must be natural colors; acceptable hair coverings should be worn if hair coloring is outside of natural color. Visible face and neck tattoos are not acceptable. Tattoos reflecting racial, nudity, or derogatory images or words must be covered.
References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.
Required Skills/Experience: Ortho experience required. Must be able to read and interpret telemetry; no techs.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Endoscopy experience preferred.
Unit Details: Expected to rotate between pre-op, PACU Phase 1, PACU Phase 2, and discharge. Nurse-patient ratios: Pre-op 1:1; PACU 1:1-2. Common cases include ortho, gyn, urology, pain management, podiatry, general surgery, and endoscopy. PACU clerk assists with transports and admin. RT is overseen by anesthesia and available to assist. No ICU patients recover in PACU; there is no ICU in the facility.
Shift & Scheduling: Monday-Friday. Pre-op starts at 0530; PACU flex start between 0800-0900. Weeknight call only: 1x/week. Weekend call only: 1 weekend per week, from end of shift Friday to beginning of shift Monday. When on call, must stay in PACU as the second nurse. May be asked to go into the holiday call rotation. Call response time: within 1 hour if living outside of Artesia.
Floating Requirements: Occasionally, if census is low, may float within Preop/PACU for helping hands/tasking on the floor.
