Unit Details: Performs MRI examinations per department protocol and prepares patients for exams with proper patient identification and order verification. Coordinates with the radiologist to select proper scanning techniques and protocols and administers intravenous contrast material under radiologist or physician supervision as ordered. Requires cross-sectional anatomy knowledge, anatomical positioning competency, infection control and sterile technique, and proficiency with electronic imaging, image transfer/archive/manipulation, MRI equipment, related information systems, troubleshooting, shutdown/start-up procedures, magnet/cryogens/gradient amplifiers, the Quench procedure, and the Four Zone MRI safety concept. Thoroughly and accurately completes required documentation including time stamps and image storage and reports equipment failures or problems.
