Travel Nurse (RN) - Step Down Unit

Required Skills/Experience:

• Must have peds and adult experience.

Special Requests:

• No self-scheduling; block scheduling can be accommodated as much as possible.

Unit Details:

• Combo adult/peds PCU.
• Patients are mostly adults but may care for peds; pediatric RNs are available on the floor for pediatric patients.
• Common diagnoses include CHF, respiratory failure, Afib, DKA, GI bleeds, dementia, AKI, suicidal patients, PEs, pneumonia, influenza, and COVID.
• Experience with chest tubes, arrhythmia identification, cardioversions, TEEs, post-heart cath patients, and defibrillator use.
• RNs titrate drips up and down; common drips include Cardizem, insulin, heparin, Lasix, electrolytes, dobutamine, and dopamine.
• Tele techs are on the unit, and RNs are required to read their own strips.
• Uses CPAP and BiPAP; RT manages respiratory equipment.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Travelers will fill gaps in the first schedule.
• Every other weekend.
• Every 3rd holiday; please expect to work one of the winter holidays.
• No call requirement; call is only assigned if the clinician requests a scheduled shift off or volunteers to cancel.

Floating Requirements:

• May float to MedSurg with a full assignment.
