References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.
Required Skills/Experience: Must have PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years. MS/Tele, telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, post MI, IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips, feeding tube care and management, continuous bladder irrigation, renal failure, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs, heparin protocols, manage cardiac drips - no titration, PCA, thrombolytic agents, titrate cardiac drips, CVA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, traction, mastectomy, chest tubes - Emerson/Pleur-evac, external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of ABGs, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac.
Preferred Skills/Experience: TCAR preferred. Previous charge experience: Preferred. Teaching hospital experience is preferred.
Special Requests: Must live more than 50 miles from the facility.
Unit Details: Mixed acuity PCU, MS Tele, and MS patient population. Ratios adjusted by acuity. Ratios: 1:3-5 for days and weekends; 1:3-7 for nights. Adolescent, infant, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patient population. Surgical pre- and post-op; ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, and ortho surgery. Overflow medical diagnosis patients. Rare pediatric patients; travelers are not assigned unless experienced. Uses Pyxis and SBAR.
Shift & Scheduling: RTO: 7 days max. Every other weekend.
Floating Requirements: May be floated to the corresponding sister units. West 2, West 3, and Observation unit are all sister units.
