Additional Details:

Each employment history entry must include all the following: detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, teaching facility. At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Preop and PACU experience preferred.
  • Scrubbing not required; nice to have.

Special Requests:

  • Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
  • The facility may make one-off exceptions if previously employed at the facility, but exceptions must be approved by St. Luke's Health System.

Unit Details:

  • Uses Epic.
  • Common cases include cholecystectomies, appendectomies, hernia repairs, abdominal hysterectomies, hysteroscopies, D&C, colonoscopies, endoscopies, and C-sections.
  • Mondays and Wednesdays are mainly colonoscopies and endoscopy (around 4 cases); Tuesdays are GYN (3-4 cases); Thursdays usually have no cases unless emergent; Fridays have around 5 cases.
  • Daily staffing typically includes 1 preop RN, 1 OR RN, 1 PACU RN, and 1 float RN.
  • L&D RN is backup for baby RT in C-sections; the OR RN becomes backup if RT is in the ER.
  • Very small team; everyone is expected to help out. Slow paced with a lot of downtime.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Assignments will be sent out the week prior.
  • Everyone stays until patients are out of PACU. Shift ends at 1930 but if there are no cases the team is able to leave at 1630 and is expected to remain available to be called back in to fulfill their shift if needed.
  • 17-20 call shifts in an 8-week staff scheduling period. This will include 12-hour weeknight shifts and 24-hour weekend shifts.
  • Call response time: 30 minutes.

Floating Requirements:

  • Float to Preop and PACU; may be asked to task in other departments if there are no surgeries.
