Travel Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Unit

An interview with the unit manager may not be available prior to offer. If you do not interview with the unit manager, you may interview with a third-party clinical nurse manager.

Required Credentials:
Associate degree or certificate.

Unit Details:
Provides post-PACU recovery and care along a continuum for pre- and post-surgical adult and geriatric patients.
Uses Rovers for medication scanning and Alaris pumps.
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 or 1:5 on day/PM shifts and 1:5-7 on nights.
Fast-paced unit averaging 10-15 admissions per day, with the highest volume on day/PM shifts.
Weekday occupancy is 90-95%, with an average length of stay of 2-3 days except for joint patients.

Shift & Scheduling:
Variable day/night shifts: 7a-7p/7p-7a.
Every other weekend and every other holiday.
No call.
The contract is eligible for 36 hours of low census; low census may occur in hour increments, the unit typically low-censuses in 4-hour increments, and a traveler may be asked to work only 4 or 8 hours of a shift.
Contract hours are not assured during orientation week.
Set contract hours are not assured when the unit is closed for holidays.

Floating Requirements:
Floats to all inpatient units.
