Required Skills/Experience: Must have total joint experience. Understanding of PCA pumps, reversal drugs (Narcan), sepsis management, TPN/lipids, and narcotic usage. 1 year of experience - surgical experience required.

Unit Details: Inpatient surgical/tele unit caring for neuro/spine, abdominal surgery/ostomy, hernia repair, total joint replacement, vascular, dialysis catheter, amputation, sepsis, chronic pain, and urgent OR patients. Nurse:patient ratios 1:4-6; nights 1:5-6. LPNs available, and virtual admission and discharge nurses assist. Primary care nursing model is frequently used. RNs titrate heparin drips. Tele monitor tech monitors; RNs interpret their own strips. Uses Draeger monitors. Charge nurse takes a smaller assignment to assist. Nurse aides are available, though they may be pulled to be sitters. RT manages CPAP (home unit), Airvo if needed, and occasional BiPAP that remains on the unit. Fast-paced unit with heavy patients; can get 8-12 surgery admits per day while discharging patients at the same time.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday for both shifts). In the holiday rotation with core staff. Call requirement: none.
Floating Requirements: Float to like units only. If floated to higher acuity, would work as a help-all and not take a patient load.
