Travel Nurse (RN) - Step Down Unit

Preferred Credentials:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
Successful completion of Basic Dysrhythmia Course preferred.
Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.

Unit Details:
Patient ratios vary: 3:1 for step-down-level patients and 4:1 for telemetry-level patients.
The average census is 25% step-down-level patients and 75% telemetry-level patients.
The 3:1 step-down/intermediate-care population includes IV drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, Cardene, and insulin, as well as patients requiring high levels of oxygen.
The unit has a high focus on neurotrauma, complex postoperative, and stroke patients.
Clinical care includes patients after coronary intervention who require femoral sheath removal using a Femostop device, patients after permanent pacemaker or AICD placement, and patients admitted with stable acute coronary syndrome.
The role includes ECG rhythm interpretation, selection of monitoring based on patient presentation, and management of life-threatening emergencies.
The unit is fast-paced and is the hospital's busiest unit for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Medication systems include Pyxis and Omnicell.

Shift & Scheduling:
No call.
Day-shift staff must work 4 weekend shifts in a 6-week period; day-shift weekends are Saturday and Sunday.

Floating Requirements:
You may be required to float to Adventist Health locations within 30 miles.
Floating to Med-Surg may be required depending on staffing and census; this happens often.
