Preferred Skills/Experience: 3 years of unit experience preferred.
Unit Details: Uses Allscripts. May house COVID patients as needed; mixed unit with temporary walls and air handling system. Charge nurse is available 24/7 and may take 0-2 patients as needed; nurse managers do rounds but do not provide patient care. Support staff includes tele techs, HUCs, and PCTs; CNAs split the floor and may each take up to 9 patients. RN ratios are 1:4 on Tele/Med Surg and 1:3 on PCU/Stepdown. Uses Phillips monitors with a monitor tech room; nurses are expected to validate monitor tech interpretations and document every 4 hours or more frequently as needed. Common drips/medications include Cardizem, amiodarone, Bumex, Lasix, Integrilin, octreotide, and Protonix. No vents; uses high-flow O2 for COVID stepdown patients and patients' home CPAP. Hospitalist, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy are available 24/7; there is no IV team. Common diagnoses include AMI, stroke/TIAs, pneumonia, renal/dialysis, A-fib with RVR, SIRS, and diabetes.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend for night shift: Fri & Sat.
Floating Requirements: May float to all Med Surg units.
