Travel Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Unit

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience:

• Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit required.
• Heparin titrated drip experience required.

Special Requests:

• At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job.
• Block scheduling may be considered if staffing allows.

Unit Details:

• Common patient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, other neuroscience cases, and some medical overflow.
• RNs titrate heparin drips based on PTT.
• House-wide telemetry; nurses do not read their own strips. Uses Philips monitors.
• High-flow oxygen for stable COVID patients only; rare on this unit.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Every other weekend; Saturday and Sunday are considered the weekend on both shifts.
• Every other holiday.
• No call.

Floating Requirements:

• Float in rotation with the rest of staff.
• General unit travelers float to general unit floors and take a full team.
• If floated outside of the general unit for urgent need, assignments are limited to skills the clinician is competent to perform and paired with a nurse trained for that unit.
